Acura is launching a new era with the introduction of the 2024 Acura ZDX, the brand's first all-electric model, promising to redefine performance and luxury for the electric vehicle (EV) segment. With an estimated 500 horsepower under its hood, the ZDX Type S is poised to become the most powerful Acura SUV ever, heralding Acura's ambitious leap into electrification with a starting price above $80,000 in Canada.
Crafted at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, the ZDX ushers in Acura's latest design language, a testament to the brand's relentless pursuit of performance-oriented aesthetics. The vehicle's sleek silhouette, long wheelbase, and high-contrast surfacing echo the design ethos of the Precision EV Concept, showcasing a future where design and electric drivetrains converge for an exhilarating driving experience.
The exterior is a blend of Acura's signature design elements, including the Chicane DRLs and Jewel Eye™ LED headlights, encapsulated within a seamless Diamond Pentagon grille adorned with an illuminated surround. The introduction of new colours like Double Apex Blue Pearl and Tiger Eye Pearl further accentuates the ZDX's bold character.
Inside, the ZDX elevates the in-cabin experience with a suite of advanced technologies and premium features. Acura's integration of Google built-in offers seamless connectivity and personalization, from Google Assistant to Google Maps, enhancing the journey with sophisticated route planning and charging station recommendations. The cockpit is dominated by a combined 22 inches of high-definition digital screens, ensuring that both driver and passengers are engaged and informed throughout their journey.
The ZDX also marks Acura's first collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, introducing an 18-speaker luxury audio system engineered to deliver an immersive listening experience, enriched by 3D Sound Control and Beosonic one-touch sound control interface.
Safety is paramount in the ZDX, equipped with AcuraWatch™ 360+, an advanced suite that includes Acura's first applications of Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, and Rear Pedestrian alert. The ZDX Type S takes driver assistance a notch higher with Hands-Free Cruise, enabling true hands-free driving under certain conditions, and an Automatic Parking System, easing the challenges of parallel parking.
Built on a state-of-the-art EV platform, the ZDX boasts a flexible battery architecture and near-perfect weight distribution, ensuring a driving experience that's both exhilarating and refined. The Type S model, in particular, enhances this experience with height-adjustable air suspension, performance-tuned adaptive dampers, and large Brembo™ brakes, allowing for a customizable drive that caters to the driver's mood and the road's demands.
Recharging the ZDX is both quick and convenient, thanks to its capability for DC Fast Charging at rates up to 190 kW, enabling over 120 kilometres of range to be replenished in just 10 minutes.
Acura simplifies the transition to electric driving with convenient charging solutions. Through an online marketplace, ZDX owners in Canada can easily select and install an Acura charger at home, supported by a network of pre-vetted local installers. For charging on the go, the Acura App provides easy access to a nationwide network of charging stations, ensuring ZDX owners are never far from a quick charge.
The 2024 Acura ZDX is not just a vehicle; it's a bold statement on the future of electric mobility, combining Acura's hallmark performance with groundbreaking technologies and luxury. As Acura embarks on its electrified future, the ZDX stands as a beacon of what's possible, blending exhilarating performance with zero-emissions driving, and setting a new standard for electric SUVs in the luxury segment.
